So the UK come’s out of Thursday’s election in a hung parliament and quite frankly, an embarrassment to the rest of the World.  Only the UK could have a ‘first past the post’ system, and we are now left with no-one running the Country!!  Maybe that’s a blessing in disguise!  In any other Democracy the winner when all the votes are counted would govern the Country, but hey ho, this is the UK.

So when the dust settles, and I don’t mean the Volcanic Ash cloud that is still threatening the travel industry, we maybe left with a coalition Government between the Conservatives and the Lib Dems.

I did however, receive the below email in the week which made me chuckle, as it’s kinda true!

An alternative view on Politics!

A little boy goes to his dad and asks, ‘What is Politics?’

Dad says, ‘Well son, let me try to explain it this way:

I am the head of the family, so call me The Prime Minister.

Your mother is the administrator of the money, so we call her the Government.

We are here to take care of your needs, so we will call you the People.

The nanny, we will consider her the Working Class.

And your baby brother, we will call him the Future.

Now think about that and see if it makes sense.’

So the little boy goes off to bed thinking about what Dad has said.

Later that night,! he hears his baby brother crying, so he gets up to check on him.

He finds that the baby has severely soiled his nappy.

So the little boy goes to his parent’s room and finds his mother asleep.

Not wanting to wake her, he goes to the nanny’s room. Finding the door locked, he peeks in the keyhole and see s his father in bed with the nanny.

He gives up and goes back to bed.

The next morning, the little boy say’s to his father, ‘Dad, I think I understand the concept of politics now. ‘

The father says, ‘Good, son, tell me in your own words what you think politics is all about.’

The little boy replies, ‘The prime Minister is screwing the Working Class while the Government is sound asleep. The People are being ignored and the Future is in deep shit.’

From the 1st January 2010, Ryanair have now introduced the Prepaid Mastercard as the only credit or debit card that will not include card charges when booking on their website.

This method of payment supersedes the previous card which was a Visa Electron.  Many banks had stopped doing the electron card, so this maybe why Ryanair have changed the card, as the Prepaid Mastercard is available to anyone.  You don’t need a bank account, there are no credit checks and you get in no debt, as you can only put money on the card that you have.

After yet another terrorist attack on a plane on Christmas Day, again we have to question all these procedures in place at airports that delay us for hours, are they worth it?

Mr Abdulmutallabm, the Nigerian terrorist flying to Detroit has shown how easy it still is to carry explosives onto a plane, even after a pat down.  So it now poses the question, is airport security actually working?

Is it enough to take my razor and nail clippers at security, when I can just as easily purchase them from the shop Boots which is air-side?

Any sharp objects are not allowed either such as knives or knitting needles, yet when I sit down to my full English breakfast, I eat with a metal knife and fork, which can be put in my bag and taken on the plane.

Is it necessary to take my laptop out the bag?  Like I can hide anything in there when there is not even enough space for an extra memory card!

and what’s the big debate with the amount of liquid I can take on?  I can buy sambuca and Whiskey at airport duty free, both of which are highly flammable.

It then comes down to profiling.  The PC brigade will disagree with this as they will say it’s racist etc. but really it should come down to OUR human rights in being able to travel without the threat of terrorist activity.  If you have nothing to hide, then you won’t mind being stopped and asked questions.  The Police get away with it in everyday life, stopping people in the streets if they ‘look a bit dodgy’, so why not do this at airports?

So now every passenger will have to wait even longer for their flights due to the extra security measures in place.   Maybe there should be a security line for people with not hand luggage which would speed things up no-end.

So are these extra security checks essential, or just an inconvenience to us all and to make it look like the airports are actually doing something?

Al Sharpton Blasts Tiger Woods for Lack of Mistress Diversity

Rev. Al has held a press conference in disgust that Tiger Woods did not choose any African-American women when having his alleged affairs.  Sharpton went on to say it would have a negative affect on the black community.

Al was quoted in saying “Why is it a man who call’s himself black, can’t bring himself to cheat on his wife with a black woman?  What does it say to young black girls, shame on you Tiger Woods.

He concluded with “I’m not asking you to cheat on your wives, I’m just asking you to give back to your community”.

I work in travel, and yes, times are hard.  A few of my friends in the industry are worried whether they will make it through until Summer 2010.

….and now we hear that BA cabin crew are going to strike for 12 days over Christmas!!!

Consumer confidence is at an all time low anyway.  ”Are flights protected should my airline go bust?”  and “Is my money safe if my travel agent ceases trading?” are just a few of the questions we get asked, week in week out.

The Christmas holidays are a busy time for the travel industry and this is the last thing we need.  The strike is to last for 12 days from 22nd December to 2nd January 2010.

You hear on the news that the pay is not as good as other airlines, well if you don’t like what’s on the table, rather than striking, and letting people down, why don’t you become a statistic and resign, go on the dole, or look for another job, simples!

January sees the travel industry gear itself up for the summer holiday bookings, so I propose a strike of my own, how about the travel industry doesn’t sell BA flights for the month of January!!!  A good selling point to our customers could be, “Cabin crew may strike without warning, so your better off not booking with BA”.

If there are no passengers booked on planes, what will the cabin crew do for work??  As Newton once said, “To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction”, so if your going to strike, think of the consequences it will have on others and not just yourself!

Times are hard for everybody, especially at this time of year!  If you are BA cabin crew, then count yourself lucky that you are not one of the 2 million people unemployed, that you have a job, that you have a roof over your head and can feed your family, and be able to buy Christmas presents for your loved ones.

Remember, if you are reading this, there is always someone worse off than you!
